In collaboration with Back to Basics and Opera North, huge dancefloor anthems will be reworked into classical arrangements and performed by a 50-piece orchestra. Featuring original artists and vocalists from Basement Jaxx, Groove Armada, and many more.

Millennium Square is preparing to stage the greatest party yet! In collaboration with Back to Basics founder Dave Beer and the fantastic Orchestra of Opera North, huge dancefloor anthems will be reworked into classical arrangements and performed by a 50-piece orchestra, together with live vocalists and some very special guests.

Since its inception in the early 90s, Back to Basics has blazed a trail for the Leeds club scene.  This event marks a very special first collaboration between the legendary Back to Basics and the Orchestra of Opera North, as two contrasting Leeds-based institutions come together to celebrate the full range of the city’s sensational musical offering. It's sure to be a cultural highlight of the year.

An incredible guest line-up will include famous faces and homegrown heroes who have played a part in Basics’ history. Basement Jaxx's original vocalists Sharlene Hector and Vula Malinga will be joined on stage by founder member Fellix Buxton to perform expanded versions of some of their iconic hits alongside the Orchestra of Opera North. Plus, Groove Armada's long-time vocalist MC M.A.D. will also be joining the celebrations, performing their first hit and Grammy nominated single Superstylin.

Another 90s icon, Republica vocalist Saffron, will be performing a unique mash-up of her UK Club Chart number 1 Ready to Go together with her previous cult hit with N-Joi, Anthem. Other original artists and vocalists already announced include; Adamski, Robert Owens and A Man called Adam.

The event will be hosted by Dave Beer on decks along with DJ sets from Back to Basics residents; Ralph Lawson, James Holroyd and Tristan Da Cunha as part of the evening’s entertainment.
